SR Timber to bid a fond farewell to our Derby HQ

Everyone at SR Timber is preparing to say a fond farewell to our head office in Derby – ahead of our move to larger premises at the end of November.

We’ve outgrown our current home, and the new offices will give us the room we need to continue on our quest to become the UK’s first choice for roofing battens, cedar shingles and Kitemarked scaffold boards.

Our Trading Director Shaun Revill said that business continues to boom for the company, and, although the staff will be sad to leave their Derby ‘home’, they are excited about the relocation to its new premises.

“Since SR Timber was started a little over ten years ago, we’ve become the roofer’s choice for offering the right timber products at the right quality and at the right price – and this has been the catalyst for the phenomenal growth of our business,” said Shaun.

“All the staff – and many of our valued customers – have come to consider Derby as the home of SR Timber, but the simple truth is that we’ve outgrown our premises and desperately need more space to continue with the ambitious growth plans we have set ourselves.”

“We’re about to start a new chapter in the story of SR Timber, but we can’t help having a lot of affection for a HQ that has served us well and has been a real springboard for the growth of the company.”

Shaun says that it’s no coincidence that the move to a larger HQ comes in the wake of new roofing standards that came in a couple of years ago.

“We have been at the forefront of embracing BS5534 and working with roofers to make sure they have roofing batten that is fully compliant with the new rules,” he added.

“Sales of our highest grade of roofing batten, Premium Gold, have rocketed because roofers know and trust it. Our batten is sustainably sourced from slow-grown timber, is fully compliant to both BS8417:2011 + A1:2014 and BS5534:2014, is approved by the NFRC and NHBC, and comes with a 60-year warranty against insect attack and wood-rotting fungi (when installed above DPC level in buildings).”

“And roofers love the fact that in partnership with Timberex, we effectively have our own sawmill, which is said to be the largest production mill solely for the production of factory-graded roofing battens in Europe. This means that we have complete control over our supply chain to ensure a constant supply of stock.”

“There’s never been a better time to be part of SR Timber, and our team are all looking forward to what happens next.”
