01. Monte Carlo or bust for SR Timber car rally trio

SR Timber has entered a team for a charity car rally to Monte Carlo this September in a bid to smash its own fundraising record.

Our Trading Director Shaun Revill, Business Development Manager- Group, Jason Lumley and Operations Manager Steve Hill will take part in the Pavestone Rally, which will take them through ten European countries in just four days in a road-legal car that costs less than £500 to buy.

The rally is raising as much money as possible for two charities – the Rainy Day Trust and the Teenage Cancer Trust – and Shaun, Jason and Steve hope that this year’s company fundraiser will be as successful as last year’s activity, which raised more than £5,000 after Richard Stone and Jason Lumley climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for the British Heart Foundation.

Shaun was overwhelmed by the support from customers and suppliers for the Mount Kilimanjaro expedition and said that the entire team at SR Timber are proud of the reputation they are building for undertaking challenging and off-the-wall fundraising activities.

“The amount of goodwill that SR Timber received when Richard and Jason climbed Mount Kilimanjaro was incredible, and it was fantastic that we were able to raise so much money for such a worthy cause,” said Shaun. “It has created a real sense of achievement amongst the team, and it’s something that we’re keen to do again because it is setting us apart as a business.

“In the run-up to Jason and Richard’s climb, it was all anyone was talking about, and that created real momentum to raise awareness and much-needed funds for a very worthy cause that is close to all our hearts at SR Timber.”

Jason added that he is confident that the SR Timber Team will raise much more than the £1,500 minimum that organisers of the Pavestone Rally hope that each team can raise.

“If our customers are even half as generous and supportive as they were for last year’s event, then will we smash the target that the organisers have set.”
