SR Timber is proud to be once again supporting SkillBuild, the UK’s largest
annual multi-trade competition, that places the best rising talent head-to-head
to be crowned national champion. The image shows roofing apprentices
working with the donated SRT GOLD® graded roofing batten at this regional
heat held at Leeds College of Building.
The SkillBuild 2026 regional qualifying heats for roofing started at the end of March and finished
early June, and brought apprentices across the country together to compete at six different
colleges. Heat winners will be attending the SkillBuild UK national final in November at the Stadium
in Milton Keynes.
SR Timber donated SRT GOLD® roofing batten for all the heats, totalling 1400 metres of 25 x
38mm graded batten, and have committed to the NFRC to supply timber for the final too. SRT
GOLD® is a correctly graded roofing batten, fully compliant to all relevant codes of practice:
BS 5534:2014+A2:2018 and BS 8417:2011+A1:2014 (preservation of wood) Use Class 2. It is WPA
approved and a CCPI – assessed product.
“We have donated our graded roofing batten to the SkillBuild event over many years.” said Trading
Director of SR Timber, Shaun Revill. “We understand the importance of supporting these
apprentices and appreciate the role that building and roofing colleges play in nurturing talent across
the industry. We wish the competitors all the best and to all winners of the heats in the Roof Slating
and Tiling Category best of luck for the final. We will be following the rounds and look forward to
attending the finals in November.”
