Pavestone pack 1

Our Pavestone Rally Pack has arrived – which is packed full of the things our three intrepid drivers will need for the trip across Europe raising money for charity.

At first glance, the box is a treasure trove of goodies, such as T-shirts, travel mugs, beanie hats, pens, notepads and pin badges from each of the two charities – the Teenage Cancer Trust and the Rainy Day Trust –that the rally is raising money for.

Then there are lots of practical things that the trio may need, such as a warning triangle, florescent jackets and headlamp converters. The pack even contains cable ties and air fresheners!

There are also stickers for the car. We’re car 22, and we have big disc stickers to put on the car (once the car has been artworked – more of that in future updates). All three of the drivers, Shaun, Jason and Steve, have their own stickers, which make them look like proper racing drivers.

The item that caused most hilarity for our team was the mini breathalyser kits. Once the guys had stopped laughing, it did dawn on them the seriousness of the challenge and the responsibility they have to themselves and other rally entrants and road users in the ten countries they will drive through.

Shaun, Jason and Steve were bemused when they pulled out a toy turtle from the pack, and it was only when they read the paperwork that it made sense. It turns out that the cuddly toy is called Fakro, and there’s a side challenge to get the best tour picture of him. Fakro has Twitter and Facebook pages, and the best picture can win £250.

It’s got to be said that the organisers have thought of everything – which is borne out in the handbook and paperwork that are also in the pack. There are maps, the rules, and information about the challenges along the way and the fancy dress. Information about driving abroad, communication between the drivers and the organiser, and what to do in an emergency is also contained in the handbook.

If the pack is anything to go by, then the rally will be something very special, and Shaun, Jason and Steve’s exploits on their four-day adventure can be followed here on our website and on Twitter @SR_Timber_
